The 156th Parachute Battalion
On the 14th October 2011 at 11:00am there will be a short service at the war memorial to commemorate soliders of the 156th Parachute Battalion.
Coffee and biscuits will be served in the club house at 10:30am, ie before the service, and those present will probably go to a pub in Skillington for lunch afterwards.
Col. John Waddy has written a dramatic account how of this force who took off from Saltby bound for Arnhem in September 1944.

Visit to RAF Cottesmore
