American soldiers at Saltby in 1944
This footage of paratroopers playing in a band at Saltby Airfield was taken in March 1944. Other films show Saltby from the air.
Saltby Airfield was built during the war and is seen here covered aircraft preparing for the invasion of France.
What a shame this next film has no sound. One can only speculate what happened to these fellows in the next few weeks. The poor bloody infantry.
The film comes from a web site called Critical Past where high defintion versions are available for sale.
